RESIDENTIAL POOL CLOSING
PLEASE READ THIS PAGE BEFORE SCHEDULING THIS SERVICE
Recent changes to the enforcement of local laws have made it necessary for pool water that will be discharged to comply with the following:
VIRGINIA: |
Chlorine levels must be 1 ppm or less. | Please do not use any Shock or chlorine products for 10 days before your closing. remove the sticks or pucks from the skimmers and if you have a chlorinator please set it to zero. |
MARYLAND: |
Chlorine levels must be 0 ppm. | |
D.C.: |
Pool water must be pumped to a sanitary sewer. |
If your chlorine levels test above these levels, we will not be able to close your pool. You will be rescheduled on the soonest available date, which may be several weeks later.
You probably don't think of closing your pool until the leaves start falling, but you may find our schedule full by then. Please contact us or schedule your closing as soon as you know which week you wish to close your pool.

Artic Blue® is a proven safe and effective algicide. Sometimes, however, any algicide will fail to prevent algae growth for the duration of the winter. We have found two causes of winter algicide failure:
1. Algae already present and/or no chlorine in the water at the time of winterization. If this is the case we will shock treat the pool. We will use your chlorine, if available, or we will charge you for shock used off our trucks.
2. Mesh covered pools which are not opened until after the weather turns warm in the spring also have problems with algae. We recommend that any mesh covered pools that will be opening after April 1st should have an additional chemical treatment. Please call for additional information.
A COMPLETE WINTERIZATION USUALLY INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING, but our experienced mechanics use their knowledge of each individual pool to delete or add steps for the best results for your pool.
